| (2003-09-11) Pictures! (Second entry of the day) Pictures! Sorry they're so big and of such poor quality. There's not much I can do about it, but you'll get the idea. This one is of the pool area of my hotel. The greenery around the hotel is wonderful. Palm trees and all sorts of flowers and stuff. This is right after it rained, but the table there by the bar is where I eat my supper.

This is right outside the hotel. I walk down this road every day. It's very sandy. This is also where some of the bumsters hang out to try to get money from you.
This is a celebration after a Female Genital Mutilation ceremony. I didn't know what it was at the time... I found out afterwards. There were all sorts of women dancing and singing and shaking leaves around. They looked very happy. I have mixed feelings on FGM. It's a hot topic here.
This is one of the main roads in The Gambia. The entire country only had one stop light, and this is it.
The stores, if they're not shacks, look like this. They're sometimes air conditioned, which is wonderful.
This is me. Ugh. I look like crap. Because it's a Muslim country, we have to cover as much skin as possible. I also never wear makeup, because it would melt off. Hair is tied back all the time because it's always about 28/82 degrees. Hot hot and humid.
This is one of my favorite pictures. The moon looked fucking awesome that evening. I like the palm trees and the sand. Look at the fucking paradise I live in!
These are some volunteers that I'm friends with. As I said earlier, they're all gone now, off to do more training. They're a very mixed group, but I like most of them. The African man is a translator, because the girl in the pink skirt (holding a blue bottle) is deaf. Jinny is the Indian girl on the far right. She will be living next door to me.
