Fasting, Geoff, and Quitting Jobs
|last| |next|
Hours turn into days turn into weeks turn into months. I'm nearly at the 10 week mark. I've gotten very little accomplished. Part of the problem is that I quit one of my jobs last week. It just wasn't working out. Interpersonal problems with a fellow VSO volunteer, and the goals of the job weren't going to be reached, and I couldn't stand the thought of me spending my six months here and not having anything accomplished in the end. Now I'm working for a hospital. I'm building a web site for them, which I think is really important. It's not the most sustainable project, but it's a start, and it's something that's achievable in the three (working) months I have left here. ** I'm fasting this week. I'm going without food and water between the hours of 7am and 7pm. I'm very thirsty. ** I've met a new friend. His name is Geoff. He's a (ahem) Canadian and he's making a Gambian horror film. He's a very good kid, and it's nice to find someone who I can share comfortable silences with and who I have things in common with. It's only taken me two months, but I think I've found my first *real* friend here. It's a good feeling. |
